Recharge

Whole Body Cryotherapy

Three minutes of sub-zero air, and a full-body reset.
You step into an electric chamber chilled well below freezing and stand in it for about three minutes. No ice bath, no submersion, no nitrogen to breathe. It is one of the quickest resets you can build into a week.
3 min
Sub-zero, whole body

What it is

Not an ice bath. Chilled air.

An ice bath works by surrounding you in cold water, which is why most people dread the plunge and the shivering that follows. Whole body cryotherapy does something different. You step into an electric chamber that chills the air around you to sub-zero, and you stand in it for about three minutes. There is no water and nothing to submerge yourself in, and you breathe normal room air the entire time.
Because the cold is dry and even, three minutes is genuinely manageable, far more so than the same idea in freezing water. It is one of the fastest recovery habits in the building. You step in, you step out, and the effect stays with you for hours.

What happens in your body

Three things, in order.

Sub-zero cold sets off the same responses your body uses to protect itself. Put to work on purpose, they are the whole reason a session feels the way it does.
01

The cold pulls blood to your core

Sub-zero air on your skin is a strong signal. Your body narrows the blood vessels near the surface and draws blood inward to protect your core. This is vasoconstriction, and it begins within the first minute.
02

Your body holds and protects

For the rest of the session your system keeps warmth and blood concentrated around your vital organs while your skin handles the cold. Three minutes is long enough to trigger the response and short enough to stay comfortable.
03

You rewarm, and it rushes back

The moment you step out and begin to warm, those vessels open wide again. This is vasodilation, and it sends fresh, oxygen-rich blood surging back through the body. The flush, the alertness, and the endorphin lift all live in this rebound.

Why people use it

What a regular cryo habit may support.

None of this happens dramatically in one visit. Like every recovery tool here, cryotherapy rewards consistency more than intensity.

Recovery between hard days

The cold drives blood toward your core, then sends it rushing back out as you rewarm. That swing is part of how the body moves fresh, oxygen-rich blood through muscles that took a beating, so a session between hard training days helps you show up ready for the next one.

Energy and mood

Sub-zero cold is a sharp signal, and the body answers it with a rush of endorphins as you warm back up. Most people step out clearer and lifted, which is why a midday session tends to reset the whole afternoon.

Circulation

Vasoconstriction followed by vasodilation asks your blood vessels to tighten and then open on cue. Better circulation is associated with how well the body delivers oxygen and nutrients to the tissue that needs to recover.

Soreness and inflammation

Cold is one of the oldest ways to calm an overworked body. Whole body cold exposure may help manage the soreness and swelling that follow hard effort, which is why athletes reach for it after the sessions that ask the most of them.

An active metabolism

Getting cold is work. As you rewarm, the body spends energy bringing your core temperature back to normal, and that quiet effort is part of what people mean when they say cold exposure supports an active metabolism.

Consistency over intensity

None of this turns on a single heroic visit. Like every tool here, cryotherapy rewards a steady rhythm, and three minutes you can repeat two or three times a week does far more than one dramatic session you never come back from.

Why the chamber matters

We run an electric chamber for a reason.

Not all cryotherapy is the same, and the machine behind it changes the experience. The Recovery Lounge runs a TridentCryo electric chamber, which cools with refrigeration rather than liquid nitrogen. That choice matters more than it sounds. With no nitrogen, there is no gas to stand in and nothing to breathe but normal air. The temperature holds steady instead of drifting as a cylinder empties, and no session depends on a tank being topped up.
Electric, not nitrogen
Cooled by refrigeration, so you breathe normal air the whole time.
Whole body
The cold surrounds you at once, not one limb at a time.
Steady sub-zero
Refrigeration holds the temperature even, session after session.

How to use it

Built to fit into a real week.

Pair it with the sauna

Cold and heat are natural partners. Many members follow cryo with time in the infrared sauna, or the other way around, depending on whether they want to finish sharp and awake or warm and loose. Moving between the two is one of the oldest recovery ideas there is.

A few minutes, a few times a week

A session runs about three minutes, and you are in and out in under ten minutes door to door. Two or three visits a week is where regular users settle, and with a founding membership you can come as often as you like for one flat rate.

Good to know

Common questions.

How cold does it get, and is it safe?

The air in the chamber drops well below anything you would feel outside, but a session lasts only about three minutes and your skin never touches ice or water. It is dry cold, and it is short by design.

What does a session feel like?

Cold and bracing for the first minute, then oddly energizing. Most people step out feeling sharp and loose, and that lift tends to carry into the rest of the day.

How often should I go?

Cryotherapy rewards consistency. Two to four sessions a week is where regular members find their rhythm, though even once a week has its place after a hard training day.

Do I need to be an athlete?

Not at all. Athletes use it to recover between sessions, but so do people who carry a full day of stress and want a fast, reliable reset.
